The shrimp species Limnomyisis benedeni originates from the Caspian Sea. It was introduced to Lake Constance a few decades ago by shipping. Fished with a plankton net at the Rheinspitz. After two passes I had about a dozen baby shrimps. They were between 1 and 3 millimetres in size. The two eyespots at the end of the tail are striking. It has “walking legs” and “swimming legs”. It normally swims forwards. When fleeing, it swims backwards very quickly. This is probably why the swimming legs are directed forwards when at rest.
