Science Notebook Project

This is a nice project on the airplane: Watch any science fiction movie and ask yourself: Is this possible? I did this with the movie "The Martian". It touches many problems that we will have in the future when we settle on the planet. By asking questions, we become real science explorers. By Atlant Bieri

The mist filter feeders

In spring 2022, we travelled north from Los Angeles. In the hills, we came across imposing oak cloud forests: “To my astonishment, large stretches of California's coast are forested. This means that the forest extends behind the first row of hills. This hinterland is kept moist by fog. The water-impregnated air rises from the sea up the hills and condenses into fog. The oak trees are covered with cord-like lichen. Its fine network is excellently suited to filter the water droplets from the air.”
